My second daughter, Dawn, moved back home after ten years of NYC living. Last year Dawn did a ten month program with the NYC Parks. Dawn went to the city schools and taught the children about the environment. Then she brought them into their neighborhood parks where they learned to appreicate, first hand, what they learned in school. She loved the work and learned a lot from the program.
So, to make a long story short she asked us if she could plant a garden. We had just removed our pool and then pointed to the bare area and told her, "This patch of earth is yours to grow a garden, good luck."
Trays and trays of seeds were in the dining room window, on our porch, in the kitchen, heat lamps on day and night......what have we gotten into !!!!!!!!
But... it turned out to be fun to watch the seeds sprout. However, it wasn't so much fun making all those trips with the pick-up truck to get organic material.
But, in the end it's been worth it....the vegtables are wonderful....the flowers beautiful.
Dawn is on the west coast this week. I hope she checks out my blog while she is away.
This sunflower is one of the many flowers we get to look at each day.
Thanks Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!
